Doggy Birthday Cake

dog birthday dog cake

It's our 5th Birthday! To celebrate we're baking a tasty cake for the Dogs and wanted to share it with you guys to recreate at home for your own Dogs!

Our trusted cake recipe is a hit in our home with our own Dogs and hopefully it'll have your Dog's tails wagging too!

For the Dog friendly Birthday cake you will need:

Cake Ingredients

2 Eggs

1/2 cup Peanut Butter (must not contain zylottol)

1/4 cup of vegetable oil

165ml water

1/3 cup of Honey

2 Carrots shredded

300g wholewheat flour (plain flour can be used)

2.5 tsp of bicarbonate of soda

Frosting Ingredients

650g of Potato

1 cup of natural yogurt

Recipe

First up, Preheat oven to 180C, 160C fan

Grease and line the base of 2 x 20cm/8" cake pans

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, peanut butter, oil, honey and water. A few lumps are fine

Slowly stir in the carrots, then add the flour and bicarbonate of soda. Stir mixture together. Divide batter between the cake pans, spread and smooth surface.

Bake for 30 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.

Cool on racks while explaining to your Dogs that they can't have the cake yet, it's too hot!

For the Frosting

Boil the potatoes as you would if you were making mash - until very soft.

Whisk the potatoes until soft then, add the Yogurt and mix with an electric mixer or spoon until the mixture is as smooth as possible.

If the mixture is too thick to spread, add water slowly to help. Once the mixture has cooled it will set.

To decorate the cake (Do this while the mash is still warm)

Spread 1/4 frosting on one cake.

Top with other cake. Frost top and sides with remaining frosting.

You can also add Dog biscuits for decoration to the top if the cake!
